Sam Fox Ambassadors Graduate Fellowship

DEADLINE:

The Sam Fox Ambassadors Graduate Fellowship awards 10 full-tuition scholarships each year to outstanding candidates for graduate study at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, US.

Ambassadors will be selected from top applicants to the following degree programs: Master of Architecture, Master of Fine Arts in Visual Art, Master of Fine Arts in Illustration & Visual Culture, Master of Landscape Architecture, and Master of Urban Design.

Criteria

All applicants to graduate programs at the Sam Fox School will be considered for the Sam Fox Ambassadors Program; no separate application is required. Finalists will be asked to participate in a remote interview with Sam Fox School faculty.

Criteria for selection of Ambassadors include:

  • Academic excellence
  • Strength of portfolio and written application materials
  • Capacity for creative and technical distinction in chosen field(s)
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, initiative, and perseverance
  • Commitment to participating in an interdisciplinary community

Benefits

Ambassadors will also receive an annual $750 travel stipend to support individual research or School-sponsored travel. The tuition waiver and stipend will be renewed annually for Ambassadors in good standing.

In addition to the tuition waiver and stipend, Ambassadors will participate in a series of events each year designed to build deep and meaningful connections across disciplines that advance their creative work and scholarship.

  • January 15, 2020: Applications due for graduate architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design programs

  • February 3, 2020: Applications due for graduate visual art and illustration and visual culture programs

  • Mid-February 2020: Ambassador finalists identified; interviews scheduled

  • Early March 2020: Notification of admittance and Ambassador selections
