The Thamesmead Open is an ambitious, open call, international art competition. With a total budget of GBP £200,000, The Thamesmead Open is designed to establish this area on the border of London as a cultural destination and innovator.

The Thamesmead Open invites artists to react to the unique setting of Thamesmead with proposals that directly respond to the location and encourage engagement with it. The commission is intended to make a bold statement for Thamesmead, putting the area on the map and raising cultural ambitions. Ideas can be presented for any location in Thamesmead, provided that logistics can be met. Submissions should be relevant for the local community, but also reflect the change that is coming.

Individual artists and creative practitioners, cultural organisations, and consortiums of artists or organisations.

The winning proposal will be responsible for producing and delivering the project, so if you are an individual applying, it is strongly suggested that you partner with a curator or producer if appointed to support the delivery of your project.

Community or commercial organisations who may form part of a team may submit proposals, but the proposal must be led by a creative practice.

There is a total budget of GBP £200,000 to cover artist and organisation fees, production costs and travel.
